Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, has today (Thursday) welcomed the approval of planning permission for the new Kerry Group research facility at Millennium Park, Naas. It is estimated that the construction of this flagship global technology and innovation centre will require up to 400 workers and, once completed, will create 800 jobs.

“I particularly want to congratulate Kildare County Council on the speedy manner in which this planning application was processed. The creation of so many construction and full time jobs is a huge boost for the local community and it is imperative that all hands are on deck to ensure that these can come on stream as soon as possible.

“I am working closely with Kildare County Council and the Department of Transport on getting the necessary funding for the required infrastructure to assist in the construction process. This includes the upgrading of the Osberstown Treatment Plant, the Osberstown Interchange and the Sallins bypass. I have also been in touch with Eircom to ensure the fastest fibre broadband speeds are available to the Naas area as soon as possible.

“I was heartened to hear Minister Varadkar on Radio One today stating that surplus funding which becomes available to the Government should be pumped into small capital programmes, such as those outlined for Naas, to assist local business and job creation. I am looking forward to the commencement and speedy completion of the construction phase”.
