Irish Sports Council Publish 2013 Anti-Doping Testing Figures

The Irish Sports Council today published their Anti-Doping figures for 2013. Last year, the Council conducted 868 tests across 32 sports including 192 blood tests, a 44% increase on 2012.

Legal letters from banks cannot be considered a ‘sustainable solution’ – Doherty

Fine Gael Meath East TD and member of the Oireachtas Finance Committee, Regina Doherty, has today (Thursday) called on the Central Bank to clearly redefine what it considers a ‘sustainable solution’ in terms of mortgage arrears. Deputy Doherty was speaking after representatives from Bank of Ireland appeared before the Finance Committee this morning.

Calorie counts on menus will help us to cut down on our bad eating habits – Noone

Fine Gael Dublin Senator, Catherine Noone, has today (Wednesday) said that calorie counts on menus will help us to cut down our bad eating habits and have a healthier diet. Senator Noone was speaking after the Minister for Health, James Reilly TD, launched the Food Safety Authority of Ireland’s new online calorie calculator (www.menucal.ie).

Flanagan calls for stud farms to be given special status in consideration of wind farm planning applications

Speaking this evening in the Dáil during the Private Members’ Debate on wind turbines, Fine Gael Chairman and Laois/Offaly TD, Charlie Flanagan, called for stud farms and racehorse training facilities to be designated as ‘noise sensitive properties’ when planning applications are being considered for wind farm developments.
