7 new traffic offences for cyclists to make roads safer – Fitzpatrick

“Fixed Charge Notices (FCNs) for cyclists who commit certain road traffic offences will make the roads safer for drivers and cyclists alike”, says Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick. Deputy Fitzpatrick was speaking following the introduction of FCNs by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD.

Confirmation of revised building regulations imminent - Daly

Fine Gael TD for Cork South West, Jim Daly, has received confirmation from the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly TD, that he will clarify any measures to be applied to the Building Control Regulations in the coming weeks. Minister Kelly also confirmed to Deputy Daly that local councils will be given powers to reduce development charges on existing planning permissions to make them more viable to go to construction.

Medical card for cancer patients under 18 provides relief for parents - Butler

Unemployment rate now at 9.7% and firm plan in place for regional jobs growth – Corcoran Kennedy

O'Donovan welcomes €3m EU funding for Shannon Foynes Port

Fine Gael Limerick TD, Patrick O'Donovan has welcomed the announcement of €3 million in funding from the EU for development works in Foynes Port. The funding comes from the EU's Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T) and will be used on the construction of the East Jetty in the Port together with support for a feasibility study on the use of the railway line into the Port.

Coffey announces funding for environmental assessments at Portlaw Cotton Mill

The long term remediation of former Irish Tanners site at Portlaw Co. Waterford is a step closer now following a commitment from Minister Paudie Coffey, T.D., to support a phased action plan by Waterford City and County Council to assess the environmental condition of the site and inform the investigation of the longer-term options for use of the site and to initiate remediation and reuse of the site.

Kilmainham Courthouse visitor project to feature on new Dublin Discovery Trails - Byrne

Fine Gael Dublin South Central TD, Catherine Byrne, has said that there has been great progress on the Kilmainham courthouse project which is set to feature prominently in a new tourist initiative called Dublin Discovery Trails, launched today by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD. The themed trails will link to the Dubline, the tourist trail which runs from Kilmainham Gaol, via Trinity College, to Parnell Square which was developed by Fáilte Ireland and Dublin City Council.
