Kehoe welcomes awarding of tender for upgrade works at Rosslare Europort

25th April 2023 - Paul Kehoe

Fine Gael TD Paul Kehoe has welcomed the awarding of a tender contract for upgrade works at Rosslare Europort.

The €236m project consists of the construction of Terminal 7, Enabling Works and a new Border Control Post.

These upgrade works are necessary to provide permanent Brexit infrastructure at Rosslare Europort to ensure compliance with EU Customs, sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) and official food controls legislation, thereby providing protection for the EU single market.

Deputy Kehoe said: “I warmly welcome the awarding of this tender and the government investment in Rosslare Europort.

“The new buildings will include facilities for a range of activities such as a Garda Síochána Immigration facility, a Revenue Enforcement and Control area, live animal inspection facilities, and checks on products of animal origin, regulated plants and plant products, pesticides, forestry, foods of non-animal origin and organic food, entering the Union.

“There is also a new main access road, a roundabout, internal road and freight entrance plaza along with significant hard-standing and truck-set/car-storage facilities to be constructed.”

Deputy Kehoe concluded: “This is a vital development to ensure Ireland can effectively manage the new requirements for checks and controls on trade with the UK.

“It will facilitate trade at the port and connect with other important infrastructure being delivered for Rosslare and the South East through the National Development Plan.

“This infrastructure represents a strong investment in Rosslare Port and Wexford and I look forward to the works beginning.”
