Government-supported investment to create 1600 jobs and 450 construction jobs in South East
€400 million per annum to rural economy in project supported by Dept of Jobs through Enterprise Ireland
GOVERNMENT CHIEF WHIP and Minister of State, Paul Kehoe TD, has welcomed an enormous agri-sector jobs announcement in the development of a world class dairy facility at Belview on the Kilkenny/Waterford just 15 minutes from New Ross.
Speaking following the announcement by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, Minister Kehoe said:
“Glanbia will create over 1600 direct and indirect jobs and contribute an estimated €400 million a year to the economy. Given Belview’s proximity to New Ross and County Wexford this will hugely benefit farm families and rural communities in the county. I’m delighted that this is a government supported project driven by Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation who will part-fund the development of a world-class dairy facility in Belview.
“We have already see great growth in exports and the agri food sector in recent years and because of our history of producing food County Wexford has been central to this. Glanbia is one of Ireland’s great home-grown success stories and their investment in the South East region will be welcomed by rural communities and farmers. Wexford is one of Ireland’s strongest dairy counties and this is the largest single dairy investment in the history of the State and so the county will directly benefit”.
