Keating welcomes N7 Newlands Cross upgrade
30th April 2013 - Deborah Sweeney
Local Fine Gael TD for Dublin Mid-West, Derek Keating, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the
announcement by the Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar TD, of the contracts being signed for the N7 Newlands Cross fly-over.
“I am delighted with today’s announcement that the contracts have been signed and construction will at long last begin on the N7 Newlands Cross fly-over. This will provide enormous relief to weary commuters who suffer long traffic delays coming in and out of Dublin city on a daily basis.
“By installing a fly-over at Newlands Cross, it will remove the last remaining traffic light between Cork and Northern Ireland, allowing for the smooth flow of traffic right from the north to the south of the country.
“This is the first Public Private Partnership to be signed since the economic collapse, and is a significant step forward for this country in getting itself back on its feet. Jobs will be created in the construction of the project which should also help skilled workers in the construction industry get back into employment.
“I would like to thank Minister Varadkar for his hard work and dedication in bringing this project to fruition. I look forward to seeing the benefits it brings for the people of Dublin Mid West and all commuters.”
