Keane highlights free events happening around Dublin South West for this Friday’s Culture Night

8th September 2014 - Susan Moss

Fine Gael Dublin South West bye-election candidate Senator Cáit Keane is urging local residents to support the many cultural events which are scheduled to take place this-coming Friday, 19th September.

“These events are free of charge to attend and are part of Culture Night, a nationwide public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts,” Senator Keane explained.

“This Friday night, 19th September, presents a unique opportunity to experience something new and celebrate the talent we live and work amongst. It can also be an opportunity for people to visit and experience the work of excellent organisations in their local area, which may appeal to them for future volunteer work. Our communities are made stronger through the incredible commitment of volunteers to sporting, community, arts and culture organisations.,” she continued.

Culture Night has grown from a relatively small scale cultural event, which first began in Dublin in 2006, to a major national event which now sees 350,000 people visiting museums, galleries, historic houses, artists’ studios, community groups and cultural centres all around the country.

“For people living in Dublin South West, it’s a chance to visit a new venue and meet new people. For families, it’s a chance to expose young children to new art forms and a way to broaden their imagination. It’s so important to nurture our young minds and encourage any form of expression or creativity,” the Senator added.
