IDA already working to attract new business to Carrick-on-Shannon – Feighan

9th August 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/Galway, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the news that the IDA is already working to find new companies to set up in Carrick-on-Shannon.

“Following last week’s devastating news of the closure of MBNA, it is very encouraging to see that the IDA has acted so quickly in working with Apollo Global Management to find new companies to set up in the town.

“I am in touch daily with the Minister for Jobs, Richard Bruton TD, who has committed that the resources of the IDA will be made available to find new businesses for Carrick. I very am pleased that we are already seeing work underway.

“The Contact Centre Management Association (CCMA) are also organising a jobs fair in the town in the coming weeks. They have acknowledged the high quality of the staff who were working in MBNA. As financial services are so highly regulated, the Carrick-on-Shannon team are trained to the highest of standards and should be desirable to many employers.

“All the supports of the Government have been made available to the workers of MBNA and I am confident that with such a skilled workforce available, many companies will be interested in setting up shop in Carrick-on-Shannon.”
