ICON’s new global innovation hub demonstrates Dublin and Ireland’s attractiveness – Mitchell
29th January 2015 - Olivia Mitchell TD
Fine Gael TD for Dublin South, Olivia Mitchell, has today (Thursday) welcomed the announcement of 100 new jobs by ICON, which is based in the South County Business Park.
“It is fantastic to see ICON an Irish company, operating in 40 countries around the world, locating its new global innovation hub in Ireland. These jobs are great news for Leopardstown and Limerick with approximately 100 jobs created in each location.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates Dublin and Ireland’s attractiveness as a location for data analytics and ‘Big Data’ management in the Life Sciences sector.
“ICON is a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. The 100 new jobs will include roles in IT, Data Analytics, Clinical Science, Project Management, Finance and Human Resources.
“Today in Leopardstown, Minister for Jobs Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton is launching the 2015 Action Plan for Jobs. ICON’s new jobs form part of the 80,000 plus jobs created in this country since the Action Plan for Jobs was first launched 3 years ago. The Live Register has fallen 19% across Dublin County in this period and the attractiveness of Dublin to companies like ICON will ensure this unemployment figure continues to drop.”
