Future of Johnstownbridge Health Centre is secure, despite rumours to the contrary – Durkan

2nd September 2016 - Bernard Durkan TD

Fine Gael Kildare North TD, Bernard Durkan, has said that the future of Johnstownbridge Health Centre is secure, despite recent rumours to the contrary.

“I’m confident that the future of the Doctor’s Dispensary at Johnstownbridge remains secure and that the centre will in fact develop further in the future, to meet the growing needs of the area’s expanding population.

“Proposals are well in hand to appoint a new dispensary Doctor, following the retirement of Dr. Maloney. He has given tremendous service and commitment to the area, for which he will be long remembered and he has the good wishes of everyone in his retirement.

“In my discussions with senior personnel in the HSE, I have emphasised the need to upgrade and expand the services and facilities in Johnstownbridge Health Centre, which has become cramped in recent years due to local population growth. This view of the need to expand is shared by the HSE and will not be affected or altered by the provision of the Primary Care Unit in Kilcock, or elsewhere. North West Kildare will continue to have its own Health Centre and I will work to ensure this.”
