Fing-LUAS: Phase 1 complete, new bus service links Finglas to LUAS Cross City- Rock

1st February 2018 - Noel Rock TD

A new bus route connecting Finglas with LUAS Cross City is “another step towards getting the LUAS extended to Finglas”, according to Fine Gael TD Noel Rock.

The NTA confirmed the new route, which connects Finglas with the LUAS Cross City at Broombridge, will commence soon.

The new route is called the 40L, and will travel through Ballycoolin, Cappagh Hospital, West Finglas and finally Broombridge.

This will create a link between Dublin 11 and the new LUAS Cross City line.

Speaking on the matter, Deputy Rock said: “The draft timetable that I’ve seen effectively supplements the 40D in parts of West Finglas.

“This will greatly increase frequency of buses in the area, cut commute times and open up Broombridge LUAS and Broombridge train station to commuters in Finglas.

“It’s a good news story for Finglas, allowing commuters access to LUAS Cross City which can have people on O’Connell Street in as little as 10 minutes at its fastest.

“This marks the completion of phase 1 of my Fing-Luas campaign, where I promised that I would work to ensure a viable bus connection between Finglas and Broombridge was brought about.

“Having a bus serve the LUAS is a no brainer, and while others joined my campaign for a new LUAS, nobody has been mentioning a bus feeder service apart from me.

“This is a practical achievement for the people of Finglas.

“Now, the next steps involve ensuring that this service is regular and convenient to as many as possible in Finglas. I will continue to put pressure on the NTA to develop park and ride facilities.

“But the final step of my campaign is to bring an extension of the LUAS line itself to Finglas. I am confident this can be done.

“I look forward to the NTA following up with more solid information on the service soon”.
