Fine Gael sets stage for young people to experience theatre, arts and culture – Sammon

Fine Gael has proposed the introduction of a €300 Culture Card for 16 and 17-year olds to access theatre, music and art events, a Fine Gael General Election Candidate has said.
Fine Gael’s youngest General Election candidate, Cllr. Evie Sammon said: “Fine Gael believes that culture should be accessible to all, enriching communities and celebrating Ireland’s heritage, creativity, and diversity. It is particularly important when it comes to enriching both the social and personal development of the next generation.
“Growing up in Kildare I know all too well the value of easy access to the arts. I was lucky enough to have the Moat Theatre right on my doorstep here in Naas, a local arts treasure replicated across many villages, towns and cities nationwide.
“Everyone deserves a front row seat to the arts, music and theatre that Ireland has to offer, particularly our young people, and the Culture Card will deliver just that.
“Fine Gael’s Culture Card proposal will open the doors to creativity, inspiration, and foster a habit of participation in culture whilst also providing a boost to our creative sectors. By making theatre and arts events more accessible, it also fosters a deeper connection between young audiences and the vibrant cultural landscape that shapes our communities.
“The arts have long been a cornerstone of personal and community development, offering unique opportunities to explore creativity and strengthen social bonds. However, for many young people, financial barriers have made these opportunities out of reach. This new programme promises to change that.
“This really is a superb initiative, no drama – just access to theatre and the arts,” Cllr. Sammon concluded.
