22nd September 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office
Minister Patrick O’Donovan and Councillor Noreen Stokes have been selected by Fine Gael to represent the party in the Limerick County constituency at the next General Election.
Party members selected Minister O’Donovan and Cllr Stokes at a convention held in the Rathkeale House Hotel tonight (Sunday), which was chaired by Minister Colm Burke.
Fine Gael have now chosen 65 General Election candidates in 40 constituencies.
Minister Patrick O’Donovan said: “I am delighted to have been selected by my neighbours and friends tonight, to once again contest the election in rural Limerick on behalf of Fine Gael.
“The last few years have not been easy, politically or personally and I am grateful for the support and the vote of confidence in me that the result showed tonight.
“Delivering for Limerick county in the south, east or west is a huge honour. Whether it’s working to deliver better roads, driving investment in town and village renewal, or building better garda stations – making people feel safe, secure and at home in their communities is something I am serious about.
“In Simon Harris, we have a chance to reset and build on the new energy that now courses through the party. Thank you for putting your faith in me to continue delivering for the people of Limerick county. I want to thank Eileen and the kids especially, for being my rocks during stormy weather.”
Councillor Noreen Stokes said: “I am honoured to have been selected to run in the upcoming General Election for Fine Gael in Co Limerick.
“I am privileged members of Fine Gael believed in me to be nominated for this selection convention.
“I would like to thanks Michael Gleeson for proposing me and Bernie Carroll for seconding me.
“I am looking forward to working with Minister Patrick O’ Donovan to deliver two seats for Fine Gael in Limerick County.”
