“Each and every day I strive to represent the people of Wicklow to the best of my ability.

“No matter what role I have held or hold in Government, I never forget it is only because the people of county Wicklow gave me the job of being their TD.

“I have worked day and night to better the lives of the people of Wicklow through my work in government – delivering at both local and national level for individuals and families.

“To make sure we keep delivering for our people, we need Fine Gael to lead the next Government and I want to lead the next Government.

“I want to thank the members for putting their trust in me once again, I promise I will continue to work tirelessly week in and week out to improve the lives of families and communities in Wicklow and across the country.

Councillor Edward Timmins said: “It’s been an enormous privilege to be selected here this evening and I want to thank all those members who participated here tonight.

“Their support means a lot to me.
