Fine Gael Local Election Candidates focused on Local Recovery – Byrne

1st May 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Dublin South Central, Catherine Byrne, has today (Thursday) welcomed the launch of the Fine Gael Local Election Manifesto.

Speaking at the launch in Dublin city this morning, Deputy Byrne wished all 468 candidates well and in particular those running in the Dublin South Central constituency.

“Philip Nolan is running in the Ballyfermot-Drimnagh ward, and we have two candidates in the new Crumlin/Kimmage – South West Inner City ward, Edel James and Jason O’Callaghan. If elected they will be excellent local public representatives for their respective areas.”

“At the launch, the Taoiseach and the Minister for Finance spoke about the important tasks that lie ahead of those Councillors who will be elected on 23rd May. This Government is focused on strengthening local government, and elected councillors will be responsible for making important decisions on local finances, and will be instrumental in deciding on how funding is distributed locally

“Fine Gael Councillors will be dedicated to ensuring that there will be no increase in commercial rates and that rates will be reduced where possible.

“The Fine Gael Local Election campaign is focused on three steps to local recovery; creating local jobs and enterprise, supporting households and families, empowering local communities.

“We are asking the people to give our local candidates the opportunity to make recovery local.
