FG launches its digital media campaign for Local and European Elections

Fine Gael’s digital media campaign for the Local and European Elections is today (Thursday) being launched by the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald TD, and Fine Gael Wicklow TD and European Election Candidate for Ireland South, Simon Harris.
They were joined by Fine Gael Local Election candidates and members of Young Fine Gael for the launch.
Two dedicated micro-sites have been developed by Fine Gael’s digital partners, Webfactory, to act as a user-friendly online resource, allowing voters to access information about Fine Gael candidates.
As well as the two dedicated micro-sites, Fine Gael’s digital media campaign will also feature:
- Ireland’s first promoted political campaign on twitter
- A series of videos (including a spotlight on each European Election candidate)
- A bespoke Facebook app featuring voter tips and information
- A specially designed video app
- Behind the scenes photos of candidates published exclusively on Instagram
- Up to 30 infographics highlighting local and national issues
- Flickr photos of all of Fine Gael’s 468 Local Election and 6 European Election candidates
Speaking ahead of this morning’s launch, Deputy Harris said: ‘Today we’re launching our two dedicated micro-sites, which aim to provide members of the public with as much information as possible on Fine Gael’s candidates for the Local and European elections’.
“We recognise that information must be easily accessible, and that’s why the search mechanism within the Local Election micro-site takes into account the various ways voters may engage with candidates. It allows users to engage with an interactive map, search by candidate names or by typing the specific local electoral area.
“We’ve found that voters like to be armed with information, so we’ll also be launching a bespoke Facebook app, which will provide members of the public with useful tips on voting and the electoral process. As well as knocking on doors in every town and village across the country, Fine Gael will be using all major social media platforms, including twitter, Flickr, Instagram and Facebook to communicate with voters between now and polling day on May 23rd.”
Minister Fitzgerald said: ‘Fine Gael has a strong track record in placing a major emphasis on social media. We want to ensure that we are reaching out to voters through as many platforms as possible to get our message out there about jobs, stability and growth. We also want to encourage voter interaction and engagement, and social media is a great way to do just that’.
“Fine Gael will be making full use of Ireland’s most popular digital platforms throughout the upcoming European and Local Election campaigns to ensure we stay connected with Irish voters.”
