Feighan welcomes planning go-ahead for state-of-the-art Primary Care Centre in Boyle

28th April 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has welcomed Roscommon Council’s planning approval for a state-of-the-art Primary Care Centre in Boyle.

“This is great news for Boyle town and surrounding areas. The project will involve the construction of a 17,000 square foot two storey Primary Health Care Centre on the grounds of the Plunkett Nursing Home. The multi-purpose facility will incorporate GP suites, consulting rooms, physiotherapy and occupational therapy suites along with a separate dental wing.

“Once complete, this major development will ensure that local communities have improved access to a greater range of health services on their doorstep.

“Primary care is central to this Government’s policy to deliver an integrated and cost-effective healthcare system focussing on delivering more care in the community, including preventative care.

“Up to 95% of people’s day-to-day health and social care needs can be provided in a community setting.

“The news of this planning green light comes in the wake of the official openings of Primary Care Centres in Castlerea and Roscommon Town in the last week.

“I am also delighted that the construction on this Boyle project will also provide a welcome jobs boost for North Roscommon.”
