Feighan welcomes Hogan’s approval for major works on €20m water scheme projects
8th March 2013 - Daniel Rowan
Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the decision by the Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan TD, to give Roscommon County Council the go-ahead to invite tenders to carry out major works on the Arigna, Boyle/Ardcarne, Roscommon Central and South Roscommon Regional Water Supply Schemes.
“This is great news for these areas in need of major system upgrades. These design, build and operate schemes will provide for significant works to the existing infrastructure, including upgrading existing water treatment plants.
“These projects are costed at more than €20 million, which is a major investment in Roscommon’s public water supply system.
“I thank Minister Hogan for his commitment to make this significant allocation available so the works can proceed.
“Major works to these schemes will ensure that consumers in the Arigna, Boyle/Ardcarne, Roscommon Central and South Roscommon areas will have a high quality water supply that will have capacity to meet current and future needs.
“I am delighted that the plans for these schemes are at a very advanced stage and these projects will also provide much-needed jobs in the construction sector.”
