Feighan welcomes creation of 40 jobs in Roscommon by global biopharma company, Alexion
3rd February 2014 - Sarah Meade
Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the news that global biopharma company, Alexion, is set to create 40 jobs following its acquisition of a facility at Monksland, Co Roscommon.
“Monksland in south Roscommon is fast becoming a renowned centre for the life sciences industry and it is very encouraging that Alexion, which has an existing base in Dublin, has chosen to locate here in order to expand its activities and workforce in Ireland.
“As Alexion has stated, the acquisition of the facility in Monksland, once completed, is part of the plan to establish a global supply chain operations in Ireland and I’m delighted that forty jobs will be created in the process.
“Last year, I had a meeting with Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, and IDA officials in the Minister’s office highlighting the need for job creation opportunities in Roscommon and surrounding areas.
“Since then Alexion and Jazz Pharmaceuticals, another biopharmaceutical company expanding in Monksland, have created almost 100 jobs in Roscommon. The facility at Monksland is of an extremely high standard and has the necessary infrastructure and capacity for high volume production. I can see why Alexion have decided to locate at the facility.
“I will continue to use my influence as a Government TD to ensure more employment opportunities are explored for Roscommon and the wider region.”
