Feighan hails Roscommon actor Chris O’Dowd’s Emmy award achievement
26th November 2013 - Daniel Rowan
Fine Gael Roscommon/South Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan, has hailed Roscommon native Chris O’Dowd’s Emmy award achievement as a great day for the county.
“I want to extend a huge congratulations to Chris and his comedy series Moone Boy on winning an International Emmy Award, which honours excellence in television programming outside the US.
“This is further confirmation of Chris’ incredible talent. His Moone Boy comedy series, which is a semi-autobiographical account of his time as a young boy growing up in Boyle, has firmly put the town and county on the global tourism map.
“Despite his huge success, Chris has never forgotten his roots and is always keen to promote Boyle and Roscommon at every opportunity.
“In the countless interviews he conducts across the world, he is always delighted to talk about where he’s from and, as we know, his foray into writing is inspired by the place where he grew up.
“Chris’ decision to stage the premiere screening of Moone Boy at Lough Key Forest Park in Boyle last year clearly reflects his love of his home town where he still has many family and friends.
“I have said it many times but there’s no doubt that Chris O’Dowd is a wonderful ambassador for County Roscommon.”
