Fans are Fooled Again as touts have a profitable World of their Own – Rock
23rd October 2018 - Noel Rock TD
Fine Gael TD Noel Rock has urged the Government to act faster on touting after Westlife tickets sell out immediately and go online for up to €600.
Deputy Rock said: “Ticketless Westlife fans have been left swearing all over again after touts snapped up hundreds of tickets for the much-anticipated twentieth anniversary tour today. These tickets, predictably, immediately flooded secondary markets for prices up to €600 within hours.
“It is once again clear: we need to take action on touting. Real fans have been fooled again, and unless you’re a very uptown girl, you simply won’t be able to afford these ridiculous prices.
“Back in July, the Cabinet approved the principle of bringing forward legislation on touting. It is now October and unfortunately there is still no scheduled date in sight.
“We need to act with greater urgency and we need a confirmed timeline as to when this amended legislation will be brought forward.”
The Dublin North-West concluded: “Minister Humphries has done tremendous work bringing the legislation to this stage, but now we need to keep the momentum going and get the job done.”
