Factory of the future announced for County Louth -O’Dowd
30th April 2018 - Fergus O'Dowd TD
Louth will see a jobs boost with 400 new positions to be created at a new factory of the future, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Louth TD, Fergus O’Dowd, said the €325 Million investment announced today by Chinese company WuXi Biologics is a great endorsement of the area, with an additional 700 jobs to be created during the construction phase of the campus.
Deputy O’Dowd said: “There is a clear trend in the location of global pharmaceutical companies setting up their European bases along the Dundalk-Drogheda economic corridor.
“The uncertainty over British intentions on Brexit is driving businesses to locate in Ireland, in particular our border county with its skilled workforce, excellent connectivity and access to the EU.
“These Government supported jobs show our plan, as set out in project Ireland 2040, is delivering for County Louth.
“In the last week alone we have seen the possibility of up to 500 local employment opportunities, and as we enter a stage of full employment we will see more opportunities with high quality jobs for people closer to home.”
