Emma Blain to replace Neale Richmond on County Council
3rd June 2016 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael Senator, in Dublin Rathdown, Neale Richmond, has congratulated former journalist Emma Blain, who has been selected by Fine Gael to replace Neale Richmond on Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The vacancy on the Council arose following Richmond’s election to Seanad Eireann.
“Ms Blain is a mother of two young children, who lives locally with her husband, Andrew. She will take up her seat at the next full meeting of the Council to be held on Monday 13th June.
“I’ve known Emma my whole life, indeed she was the person who originally signed me up for Young Fine Gael. She will be an excellent representative for our area and a vital part of the Fine Gael team as we seek to rebuild locally. I am looking forward to continuing to work for the Glencullen-Sandyford area with Emma and our excellent local TD Josepha Madigan.”
Speaking following the Convention, Ms Blain said: “I am delighted to have been selected to take up the vacant seat on the Council. It is a huge honour and a challenge that I am looking forward to.
“Having worked in politics for the past decade as a press officer and digital media manager, I am excited to be moving into representational politics. As a young, working, mum, I fully appreciate the many challenges facing families in our area.
“I will prioritise the provision of top quality recreational facilities in areas such as Marlay Park and the Dublin mountains. I will also seek to provide the best conditions locally to allow business to grow and prosper as the economy continues to recover.”
