€50,000 investment for Loughshinny Harbour

8th April 2013 - Alan Farrell TD

“The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has granted funding to Fingal County Council for works at Loughshinny Harbour,” according to Alan Farrell, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal.

“A total of €50,000 will be invested in the improvement of Loughshinny Harbour this year.   The bulk of this funding will come from government at a total of €37,500.   The remainder will be funded by Fingal County Council.

“This grant was sought by Fingal County Council in order to resurface the pier at Loughshinny, and to remove stepped access and to upgrade recessed ladder access.

“The works, when completed, will improve the appearance and safety of the harbour, and is part of government’s Fishery Harbour and Coastal Development Programme 2013.

“Dublin Fingal harbours received a major government stimulus package of €400,000 in 2012 as part of this programme where ‘shovel ready’ projects were selected for works in order to create local employment while also benefitting the area.

“Seaside communities such as Loughshinny are very proud of their harbours. Projects such as this will ensure that they are protected and maintained and can continue to be a focal point of our landscape.”
