€21 million redevelopment programme at Shannon Free Zone to attract jobs and investment – Conway
9th September 2015 - Senator Martin Conway
Fine Gael Clare Senator, Martin Conway, has welcomed the announcement by the Shannon Group of the commencement of the €21 million first-phase of a major redevelopment programme at the Shannon Free Zone.
“Today’s announcement that construction of manufacturing units and office blocks will begin shortly, as well as the upgrading of some of its existing core assets, is a great endorsement for the independent Shannon Airport.
“After being released from the constrictions of the Dublin Airport Authority, Shannon Airport is now succeeding as an independent entity. This significant investment of €21 million will support more than 250 construction related jobs and will attract major investment in the area, resulting in job creation in the region.
“The development will include an office block and an advance technology manufacturing unit, together with a €4 million upgrade and development of an existing warehousing unit in the zone adjoining airport lands.
“The €1.3 million refurbishment of an office and warehousing facility located in the Shannon Free Zone West is already complete.
“This major investment programme is very welcome and will result in the provision of world class facilities at the Shannon Free Zone, which will attract investors and new business start-ups to the region.”
