€2.5 million allocated to Kildare County Council for Smarter Travel Projects

Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, warmly welcomes the announcement by the National Transport Authority that €2.5 million is to be allocated to Kildare County Council to rollout Smarter Travel Projects throughout the county.

“In total over 30 projects have been identified, the majority of which are due to be completed before the end of 2013. The aim of the Smarter Travel Projects will be to improve the travel experience of people using most forms of transport. They include traffic calming measures, new footpaths, Bus Stop improvements, enhanced cycling facilities. among other plans.

“In particular I welcome the allocation of funding to upgrade the footpaths and roundabout in Kill, and also the completion of design works to improve the Sallins Road Corridor in Naas. The measures for the Sallins Road Corridor are set to improve facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, enhance safety and improve bus related issues. It will also include the upgrading of the Osberstown Junction,

“These projects will greatly improve the travelling experience of people throughout the constituency of Kildare North and will also allow for safer road conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike.”
