€15m investment to bring 100 new jobs to Drogheda – O’Dowd
2nd June 2015 - Aoife Carragher
“East Coast Bakery will bring 100 new jobs to the Donore Road Business Park in Drogheda providing a huge boost to the local area” says Fergus O’Dowd, Fine Gael TD for Louth.
“A new Irish biscuit company, East Coast Bakehouse, has announced an investment of €15 million in a new large scale commercial biscuit manufacturing facility creating 100 jobs.
“Drogheda was selected by East Coast for this investment due to its prime location on the east coast. This region is well linked by road, air and sea and there is no doubt that there is massive potential for further growth and investment.
“The Bakehouse which is to be located in the recently renovated Donore Road Business Park, will produce Irish biscuits that will take their place in the very competitive biscuit market.
“Irish people spend over €3 million a week on biscuits, with the majority of these being imported. East Coast Bakehouse will be producing Irish made biscuits to be sold in Ireland and further afield.
“The Food and Drink industry is Ireland’s largest indigenous industry and it is critically important to our economic wellbeing. I would like to welcome East Coast Bakery CEO, Michael Carey and all of his staff to Drogheda and wish them all the best with their new business.”
