1st December 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Laois/Offaly, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy, has said that National Lottery Grants allocated by the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar TD will make a big difference to a number of organisations and groups in Offaly.

“Minister Varadkar has allocated National Lottery Grants to a number of organisations in Offaly which are greatly in need of support and which do excellent work in the community.

“Offaly Community Forum, based in Tullamore, will receive €1,000 towards funding the Offaly Mental Health TLA campaign.

“A National Lottery Grant of €2,200 will go towards the Offaly Traveller Movement to address traveller health issuers using once off activities.

“Also in Tullamore, the Irish Wheelchair Association will receive €2,000 towards the cost of social outings and the Christmas Party, they will also receive €5,800 towards funding a holiday for members. In addition €2,000 has also been allocated for developing the garden and buying furniture.

“National Lottery funding is allocated to groups and organisations involved in the provision of health and personal services. This funding goes towards once off projects that can be carried out in a reasonable period of time. This is extremely valuable funding as it allows for development projects and schemes that make a real difference to service users and positively impact on the level of support groups can provide.

“Minister Varadkar was determined that as many groups as possible would benefit from the National Lottery fund and I welcome the allocation of this funding to these excellent groups in County Offaly.”
