Don’t be caught without a vote, be prepared
5th November 2013 - James Bannon TD
Longford/Westmeath Fine Gael TD, James Bannon, today urged voters to check if they are on the Electoral Register.
“The 25th November 2013 is the final date for applications to the Register of Elections for voting next year in the Local and European elections.
“If voters are unsure if they are registered, it is essential they check the Register of Electors. This can be done in the case of Longford/Westmeath residents through the Longford County Council website, www.longfordcoco.ie or Westmeath County Council, www.westmeathcoco.ie .
“We are just a matter of months away from one of the most important local elections in the history of the state, where we are facing a new era in local government, with our action programme for effective councils ‘Putting People First’. Our reformed County Councils will be the corner stone of Irish local democracy.
“Next year gives us the opportunity to vote in a historic election. But if those who want to vote are not registered, they cannot vote.
“Don’t be caught without a vote, be prepared.”
