Fine Gael Senator for Louth/East Meath, Jim D’Arcy has welcomed the successful conclusion of the talks process in Northern Ireland.
“I welcome the whole package, including agreement on Welfare Reform and the important progress in relation to dealing with the legacy of the past.
“I am particularly pleased that a new Task Force led by officials from PSNI, An Garda Síochána and Revenue Officers from both jurisdictions will be set up to tackle cross-border organised crime. This is something I have been advocating and discussing at a high level for some time now. I am confident that it will get widespread support.
“We all need to work together to put a stop to lawlessness and bring in a new era in Irish life on the whole Island where everyone is committed to democracy, human rights and the rule of law. “
