Conlan "Continued Rise in Exports and Job Creation Crucial to Delivering Economic Recovery"

23rd February 2012 - Sean Conlan

Deputy Sean Conlan welcomes new merchandise trade figures which were published in the last week by the Central Statistics Office which show that goods exports in April are up 6% on the same month in 2012. The figures also show a 12% year-on-year increase in exports of medical and pharmaceutical products, which reached €2.04 Billion in April 2013.

Deputy Conlan continued by stating that “Since the Launch of the Action Plan for Jobs we have seen an increase in excess of 2000 jobs a month being created in the private sector. We as a party are determined to build on the areas of stability and growth in order to accelerate Job Creation. This will be done through new initiatives both at national and European level.”

The Deputy continued by stating that the Government have taken the economy from a position prior to us taking office in 2011where in excess of 6000 jobs a month were being lost to a position where in excess of 2000 jobs are being created. That means that this Government has achieved a monthly turnaround of in excess of 8000 jobs which is a welcome progression.
