Community groups to access €13 million for energy upgrades – Butler
3rd March 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
“Meath community groups should apply for funding to upgrade their energy systems, now that €13 million has been made available”, says Fine Gael Meath West TD, Ray Butler.
The Better Energy Communities programme is administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) on behalf of the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.
“I strongly encourage Meath community groups to apply for funding to upgrade their energy systems now that €13 million has been made available for the upgrade of residential, public and community buildings around Ireland.
“A lot of Meath organisations benefitted from this scheme in 2014. The North and East Housing Association led a project which involved energy upgrades of 22 houses in Seaview Grove, Laytown. In Trim, Retrofit Energy Ireland led a project which upgraded 78 homes.
“Sustainable energy is in everyone’s interest. It is good for the environment and also helps businesses keep costs down.
“The scheme is open for applications until the 20th of March and groups can apply online at: www.seai.ie/Grants/Better_Energy_Communities/.”
