Coffey welcomes Minister’s commitment of funding for Dunmore East Harbour
8th April 2013 - Senator Paudie Coffey
Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has welcomed news from Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, that he will be allocating funding for the upgrade of the slip at Dunmore East Harbour. Deputy Coffey received this news by way of a Parliamentary Question to the Minister.
“Minister Coveney has confirmed to me that funding will be allocated for Dunmore East Harbour Slip this year. Dunmore East Harbour is one the harbours that is controlled by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and capital funding has been long overdue for this project.
“I have been working closely with the community in Dunmore East since my election to Dáil Éireann and I am pleased that the Minister has decided to allocate funding for this upgrade. The Minister will be announcing the total allocation of funding within the coming days and it will help to contribute to the overall development of the Harbour. There are still outstanding issues, most importantly the dredging of the Harbour, and I will continue to lobby the Minister to try to ensure that this is delivered in the longer term.”
