Butler welcomes funding for Navan Town Council
2nd December 2013 - Sarah Meade
Fine Gael Meath West TD, Ray Butler, has today (Thursday) welcomed the approval of funding for Navan Town Council, which will allow for improvements to be made to footpaths and public lighting in the town.
The funding is being made available under a joint partnership between the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Irish Public Bodies (IPB) and local authorities to provide €3 million for the improvement of local facilities nationwide.
“Meath County Council applied for this funding, and €58,000 has been approved following an assessment by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. The local authority will also make a contribution to allow for improvement works to be carried out on footpaths in the town. New public lighting will also be provided.
“This will have a positive impact on the town by making it easier and safer for local people to get around. It is very important for the Government to continue to invest in local towns and villages, much to the benefit of both local residents and businesses.
“I hope Meath County Council can begin these works without delay.”
