Fine Gael TD for Meath East, Helen McEntee, has said that broadband must be delivered for rural Ireland as soon as possible, and that every resource necessary to make this happen should be made available.
“The delivery of rural broadband can’t be delayed and must remain a priority. This is an issue I have been highlighting since I was elected three years ago and one I intend to continue to pursue in the next Dáil term.
“If more staff or additional funding is needed then that’s what will have to happen. Every resource necessary should be made available to ensure that rural broadband is available in rural Ireland as soon as possible.
“High quality broadband is crucial for small businesses in rural Ireland to thrive and is also really important for farmers and a successful agri-food sector.
“It is also crucial for so many families and young people where there is an increasing ability to work from home or requirement for internet access for educational needs.
“In order to ensure that Ireland remains one of the most competitive economies in Europe, we must prioritise rural broadband and ensure that every person and family can benefit.”
