Adare fire must not impact on long term tourism industry – Neville
7th June 2015 - Aoife Carragher
“The fire that took place in Adare village today has been a huge shock to the local community and I am very glad to hear that there are no reports of any injuries. However, it is vital that every step is taken to rebuild the cottages as soon as possible and to prevent long term damage to Adare’s tourism industry” says Dan Neville, Fine Gael TD for Limerick.
“Residential and commercial cottages have been severely damaged but the extent of rebuilding works that will be needed to restore the cottages is as yet unclear. In any case, it is very important to the local economy that swift action is taken to restore the cottages.
“Adare is a bustling tourism village, with the cottages as the key attraction. I will discuss this issue with my colleague, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe and I intend to express to him the importance of addressing this issue without delay.
“I would like to commend the four units of the fire service who attended the scene and everyone who assisted. I commiserate with businesses and those living in the area, who have been directly impacted by this incident. I am committed to doing all that I can to secure support in restoring the area as soon as possible.
