27th October 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office

Councillor Carmel Brady has been added to the Fine Gael ticket in the Cavan Monaghan constituency for the upcoming General Election.

Cllr Brady will contest the five-seater constituency alongside party colleagues; Cllrs TP O’Reilly and David Maxwell.

Cllr Brady was added following a weekend meeting of Fine Gael’s Executive Council. Fine Gael has now chosen 77 General Election candidates in 43 constituencies.

Cllr Carmel Brady said: “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to stand for Fine Gael in the coming General Election for Cavan-Monaghan. Having served as councillor for Cootehill – Bailieborough for the past 10 years. I’ve worked tirelessly on the ground, and I have had the privilege of representing our communities, and together we have made significant strides in as securing funding for our playgrounds and GAA & soccer clubs, improving our roads and footpaths for safety, and advocating for essential services like medical cards and school transport.”

I am determined to tackle the challenges that remain. We must continue to invest in our local infrastructure, support our community centres, and ensure that every family in Cavan – Monaghan has access to the resources they need to thrive. Together, we can create opportunities for employment, foster a vibrant local economy, and nurture a safe environment for our families.”

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Minister Heather Humphreys for her unwavering support and guidance over the past 10 years. She has not only been an exceptional mentor but also an inspiring role model for women in politics and a dear friend”.

I am committed to representing everyone’s voice, especially women and mothers and continuing the important work she has championed.”

I cannot do this alone. I need your support, your voice, and your passion for our community. Let us come together to shape a future where Cavan – Monaghan are not just places on a map, but thriving communities filled with hope, possibility, and pride.”
