Clear information needed on new ‘E’ bus route service – Blain

Dublin Bay South FG candidate calls on the National Transport Authority (NTA) to provide area-specific information in new booklets

6th November 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office

Detailed, area-specific communication is needed to help commuters avoid confusion on new bus route, a Fine Gael General Election Candidate has said.

The new ‘E’ bus routes, set to launch on December 8th, will connect key areas including Bray, Foxrock, Stillorgan, UCD, Donnybrook, and Leeson Street.

Cllr. Emma Blain said: “I welcome the commitment by the NTA to distribute a booklet to every household in the affected areas.

“However, it is vital that this information is as clear and comprehensive as possible. When the S bus services were introduced last November, there was widespread dissatisfaction with the quality of information provided, and we simply cannot afford to let that happen again.

“I have requested that the booklet be tailored to the needs of each specific area, with detailed guidance on how to access destinations currently served by the 46A, 145, and 155 routes, as well as full details on the new 24-hour service.

“It is equally important that people understand how to reach places that will no longer be served directly, such as Heuston Station and the Phoenix Park. Without this level of detail, we risk confusion and inconvenience for thousands of commuters.

“I urge the NTA to release this information by the end of November, to give people ample time to plan their journeys.

“Public transport is an essential part of our community, and if we are serious about encouraging its use, we need to ensure that people are properly equipped with accurate and accessible information.

“Clear communication is key to making these changes successful and to maintaining public confidence in our transport system.

“Efficient public transport is a key issue I am campaigning on, and I believe these new E bus services have great potential to improve connectivity across Dublin Bay South. However, that potential can only be realised if commuters are fully informed about how to use these services”.
