24th September 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office
Taoiseach Simon Harris TD has appointed Alan Farrell as Chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Communications and Transport.
Deputy Alan Farrell, Fine Gael General Election candidate for Fingal East said: “I am pleased to have been asked to serve as Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Communications and Transport for the remainder of the 33rd Dáil.
“Having previously served as an Oireachtas Committee Chair in the 32nd Dáil, I am very familiar with the processes involved and I very much look forward to the challenges ahead.
“Ireland is on the cusp of a public transport revolution, with several large-scale projects in the pipeline, from bus connects, electrification of our commuter rail network, the reopening of disused railway lines to the delivery of a world class MetroLink service for Dubliners.
“There is much work to be done in the coming years to ensure that such projects do not fall behind so that we can remain on target for our 2030 transport emissions targets, in conjunction with Project Ireland 2040,” he concluded.
