Minister Neale Richmond and Cllr. Maeve O’Connell have been selected by Fine Gael to represent the party in the Dublin Rathdown constituency in the General Election.
Party members selected Minister Richmond and Cllr. O’Connell tonight (Thursday) in a convention held in the Talbot Hotel, Stilorgan, which was chaired by Minister Emer Higgins.
Fine Gael have now chosen 61 General Election candidates in 38 constituencies.
Minister Richmond said, “I am honoured that the Fine Gael Members in Dublin Rathdown have once again placed their trust in me and selected me to run in the upcoming General Election.
“I have proudly represented Dublin-Rathdown as a Minister, TD, Senator and Councillor for over 15 years, and I have always put our community first and delivered for our area.
“In that time our community has seen the opening of ten new schools, the creation of thousands of local jobs, the building of thousands of new homes, massive upgrade to our public transport system and real investment in both our sports and community facilities.
“Having been born here, lived here my whole life and now raising my young family here, I know Dublin-Rathdown is a fantastic place to live, work and raise a family and it is privilege to represent our residents, our businesses and our communities on a national level.
“I look forward to playing my part locally and nationally to ensure that Simon Harris is returned as Taoiseach, this starts here in Dublin Rathdown.”
Cllr Maeve O’Connell said: “I am grateful to have been selected by my fellow Fine Gael members and I am incredibly excited to run for election for Rathdown, a community that I care deeply about and have had the privilege of serving as councillor.
“I look forward to engaging with voters, hearing their concerns, and working together to make Rathdown an even better place to live.
“I am passionate about advancing progressive policies to protect and safeguard the future of our constituency.
“Building a strong sense of community is at the heart of everything I do. Rathdown is a vibrant area with so much potential, and I believe we can create real progress by working together.
“As the campaign unfolds, I look forward to meeting as many people as possible and sharing my vision for a safer, greener, and more connected Rathdown.”
