26th August 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office
Senator Nikki Bradley and John McNulty have been selected by Fine Gael to represent the party in the Donegal constituency at the next general election.
They were selected at tonight’s convention at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny which was chaired by Minister Heather Humphreys.
Fine Gael has now selected 30 General Election candidates in 18 constituencies.
Senator Nikki Bradley said: “I am delighted to have been selected to contest the next General Election for Fine Gael in Donegal.
“As a TD I would be a strong voice for those living with disabilities. From my lived experience, I have invaluable insight and knowledge that I can use to push for a better quality of life for others who are living with disabilities. I want to improve access to services for everybody within the disability community.
“I will also continue to raise the issue of defective blocks that has impacted so many across the constituency. In Donegal we have all seen the devastating effect this has had, and I will work hard to represent the homeowners who have been impacted by this.
“I am passionate about encouraging young people to get involved and play an active role in our community and in politics. I want young people in this country to feel that their voices are being heard and will work tirelessly to increase recreation facilities for young people across the county.
“I look forward to the campaign ahead and to engaging with members of the public in the coming weeks and months to seek their number one vote.”
John McNulty said: “It is an honour to have been selected this evening to contest the General Election in Donegal alongside Senator Nikki Bradley.
“I know I can, and I will be a strong and hard-working representative for the people of Donegal, with a particular focus on our indigenous industries of farming and fishing, and also improving access to housing, healthcare, attracting tourism, and much needed improvements to infrastructure.
“Access to healthcare is a major issue for so many in Donegal, and I want to see continued investment in Letterkenny University Hospital. We need to see improvements to waiting times, outpatient services, preventing overcrowding, and improved services such as supports for those with diabetes.
“As a self-employed business owner, I know first-hand the challenges and opportunities faced by small business owners across Donegal. Thriving local businesses are the backbone of a strong rural economy and I am committed to supporting these businesses so that local enterprise and jobs can flourish in the area.
“I want to see real, practical solutions to address the issue of defective concrete. This has impacted so many individuals and families across the county and I want to be a voice for the homeowners who are dealing with the realities of this problem.
“My involvement in sport and sports management has equipped me with the skills to inspire teamwork, dedication and achievement in those around me, and I am passionate about community development and youth empowerment.
“I have a proven track record as a leader in both business and in sport, and I am committed to bringing my real-life experience to deliver results for the people of Donegal.”
