Fine Gael selects Deputy Alan Farrell to contest Dublin Fingal East constituency in General Election
23rd July 2024 - Fine Gael Press Office
Deputy Alan Farrell has been selected by Fine Gael to contest the Dublin Fingal East Constituency at the next General Election.
Party members selected Deputy Farrell in a convention in the Applewood Community Centre in Swords, which was chaired by Minister Peter Burke.
Fine Gael have now chosen 22 candidates in fourteen constituencies.
Deputy Alan Farrell, who is chair of Fine Gael’s parliamentary party, said, “I am very pleased to have been selected by members of the newly formed Dublin Fingal East constituency to contest the next General Election. Having fought and won five elections over the past twenty years, I am very much looking forward to this campaign with fresh vigour.
“Dublin Fingal East is one of the youngest, fastest growing constituencies in Ireland and I am very eager to continue to represent the vast and varying needs of my constituents.
“Our party has a record to be proud of, from achieving record levels of employment and reducing the tax burden on workers, to introducing free schoolbooks and hot meals, and steering our country through major challenges such as Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But challenges remain and here in Fingal East we need to see the tangible results of our efforts.
“I will focus on delivering on transport projects such as DART+, Bus Connects and MetroLink, ensuring that improvements to healthcare facilities in Swords are completed, building on our work to ensure that owning your own home is an attainable goal for young people, and ensuring all children have a place in local schools.
“These are the issues I believe that the next General Election will be fought on. Fine Gael is ready to not only highlight our record on these matters, but to clearly and effectively demonstrate to the public that our vision for Ireland is the best choice in the next General Election.
“Having been elected to Dáil Eireann on three occasions, I know I have the experience necessary to ensure the needs of the people of Fingal East are represented at the highest levels of Government,” concluded Deputy Farrell.
