Cavan’s inclusion in Hidden Heartlands major boost to county tourism – O’Reilly

Cavan is to be included in the Hidden Heartlands for tourism and marketing purposes in what will be a major boost to the local economy, a Fine Gael Senator has said.

Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands was launched by Fáilte Ireland in 2018 and has been successful in growing tourism in the region. The expanded footprint for Hidden Heartlands will now include Cavan, Westmeath, Offaly and part of Tipperary.

Senator Joe O’Reilly said, “Our natural rural beauty and varied countryside makes Cavan an ideal fit for the Hidden Heartlands project. Our inclusion will attract more visitors for a complete midlands experience.

“We already have a fantastic offering of tourism infrastructure, including hotels, leisure centres, natural beauty spots and many thriving local shops and restaurants. Inclusion in Hidden Heartlands will only serve to further boost our local businesses and communities and expand what we can offer to tourists coming from near and far.

“The expanded Hidden Heartlands will give visitors a more cohesive visitor experience in the area and will strengthen our overall tourism offering.

“Cavan is ready to grasp this new opportunity and we trust that Fáilte Ireland will bolster the outstanding hospitality sector and unique beauty that we have,” concluded Senator O’Reilly.
