Over €9 million allocated for Waterford’s Roads in 2015 – Coffey

Fine Gael Waterford Minister Paudie Coffey has said that he has received confirmation from the Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe TD that he has allocated over €9 million worth of funding for 2015. Minister Coffey said that this money will be used by Waterford City and County Council to upkeep and maintain our road network over the coming 12 months.

“Along with the general allocation there will be an additional focus on low cost safety repairs along with bridge rehabilitation works. €217,000 has been allocated to carry out works on the following bridges in 2015;

– Ballyvoile Bridge
– Camphire Bridge
– Lemybrien Bridge
– Rathnaskillogue Bridge
– Bunmahon East Bridge

“€265,000 has been specifically allocated for safety repairs that will improve pedestrian and car safety across Waterford City and County in the following locations;

– Ballyheist Cross Roads
– Ballinameela on the R671/L2010
– Junction of New Ross Road and Abbey Road
– Junction of Hennessy’s Road and College Street – Waterford City
– Pouldrew Phase 2
– Tramore Road at Shinganagh, Butlerstown
– Tramore: Control Pedestrian Crossing on Coast Road
– Tramore: Junction with Priests Road/Church Road

“The maintenance of our road network is crucial for connectivity across Waterford City and County and will mean that our roads will be kept in a proper condition over the coming year. This is a significant investment for Waterford City and County will hopefully mean that there will be less accidents on our roads in 2015.”
