CIE Tours International Awards of Excellence

8th February 2012 - Senator Paul Coghlan

Speaking in the Seanad today the Kerry Senator Paul Coghlan heartily congratulated all twelve Kerry winners of the CIE Tours International Awards of Excellence presented by Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar. He commented that five of the top premier award winners were from Kerry and saluted the magnificent achievement this was.

He noted that this was the 80th Anniversary of CIE Tours International and that interestingly at the outset in 1932 they were responsible for the planning and accommodation aspects of the Eucharistic Congress.

Visit Merit Awards were very deservedly won by Muckross House and Tangney Tours – Jaunting Car. The best tour feature was won by Brendan Ferris and Pat Golden for their Sheep Dog Trial and the best Farmhouse B & B was won by Applecroft House. Hotel Merit Awards were won by the following Killarney Hotels, Avenue, Brehon, Towers, International , and Benners Dingle. Best Special Dinner Feature was won by the Killeen House Hotel and the Best Four Star and Five Star Hotel Awards were also won respectively by the Killarney Plaza and Killarney Park Hotels. All of these award winners are very much to the forefront of successfully marketing the very best of the Irish Tourism Project and have generated much of their business through the most powerful form of advertising, namely word of mouth. They have each been outstanding in providing the very best entertainment, accommodation and food and make that special extra effort to make visitors feel welcome. It goes without saying that their standard of service is top quality and outstanding in every respect.
