Funding of Waterford Regional Airport Secured Beyond 2014 – Coffey
7th December 2013 - Senator Paudie Coffey
Fine Gael Waterford Deputy Paudie Coffey has said he is delighted to receive confirmation from Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar TD that the Government has agreed today to continue exchequer support for the four regional airports including Waterford Airport beyond 2014.
“This is extremely positive news and will give time for the airport to fulfil its new business plan and ensure that the South East Region continues to be served by an Airport. With the airports funding now secure beyond 2014 it is imperative that the Waterford-London route is re-established as quickly as possible and that we continue to work towards the goal of receiving funding to allow for the extension of the runway that could have a hugely positive impact on our local and regional economy.
