Statement by Minister James Reilly following the death of Dr John O’Connell
8th March 2013 - Susan Moss
I am very saddened to hear of the death today of Dr John O’Connell.
Dr O’Connell served as the Minister for Health from February, 1992 until January, 1993. He was a major figure in the world of medicine and in the world of politics. A general practitioner and a businessman, he was responsible for the production of the Irish Medical Times and of MIMS – an invaluable guide to doctors on the issue of prescribing medicines. May I offer my condolences to his family and friends.
