Clune urges people to make submissions on inclusiveness in schools
6th October 2015 - Deirdre Clune MEP
The Department for Education and the National Parents Council Primary have launched the public consultation on promoting inclusiveness in primary schools.
The public consultation process is part of the Minister Ruairi Quinn’s plans in response to the Report of the Advisory Group to the Forum on Patronage and Pluralism in the Primary Sector. Fine Gael Senator Deirdre Clune welcomes this initiative.
This is an extremely important move as it is crucial to get the views of those concerned directly.
Schools should be welcoming and happy places to learn and grow for all children from the local community.
I would urge parents, teachers and other interested parties inCorkto make submissions and take this chance to air your opinions which are extremely relevant.
Ireland is a changing society, home to people of many different cultural, religious and belief traditions so it is our job to make these people feel that these diversities are nurtured and respected in schools.
Our education system needs to adapt to this, while of course continuing to cater for children with more traditional religious beliefs too.
Parents in particular need to be considered on how all children can be made to feel included and involved in their local primary school.
They have the first hand knowledge and experience which is vital to this project.
