SF attempted hijacking of the recovery won’t work: they don’t have any policies to sustain job creation – Donohoe

Minister Paschal Donohoe has said that Sinn Féin’s attempts to hijack the recovery simply won’t work, because they have no policies to sustain job creation. Instead, Sinn Féin’s disastrous policies would kill the recovery and cost us 200,000 jobs.

“It is laughable to hear Sinn Féin claim that 188,000 jobs will be created regardless of who is in Government. The Department of Finance produces job creation projections based on growth rates and current policies being maintained. Fine Gael is the only Party with a Long Term Economic Plan to keep the recovery going.

“Sinn Féin wants to implement drastic policies which would have a devastating impact on the economy. Sinn Féin would destroy jobs and push the unemployment rate above 10% by 2021. Sinn Féin’s approach is based solely on heaping taxes on working families.

“Sinn Fein want people earning over €33,800 to pay more than 50% income tax. They want to hike income tax for higher earners up to 59%, or 62% if you are self employed. This would devastate job creation.

“Sinn Fein has opposed all of the policies implemented by this Government. And yet now they are trying to hijack the recovery and cover up the fact that their policies would send this country back into an economic abyss. I shudder to think what would happen to the economy if Sinn Féin was at the reigns.

“Fine Gael’s Long Term Economic Plan will keep the recovery going by creating more and better jobs, making work pay and investing in better services.”
