Safety must remain top priority at the Brink – McEntee
25th April 2016 - Helen McEntee, TD
Fine Gael TD for Meath East, Helen McEntee, has said that safety must remain a top priority on the N2 Dublin/Derry Road at the Brink service station and crossroads.
“Trucks and large vehicles parking on the side of the road near the Brink service station and crossroads on the N2, an extremely busy national route, are causing a real safety hazard. This is an issue that must be addressed.
“I recently organised a meeting with Meath County Council officials, Ros Na Rí community group, Panda Waste, the Brink owner and local county councillors to discuss possible solutions and to rule out options that are not viable.
“A number of possible ways forward were teased out at the meeting and it was decided that as a next step Transport Infrastructure Ireland, or the NRA as it was previously known, will conduct a safety inspection and I hope that that will take place this week. On the back of this report, we will further examine the options and map the way forward.
“Trucks pulling up on the side of the road near the Brink service station are resulting in a very dangerous blind spot for drivers. I fear that it is only a matter of time until this results in a serious incident.
“I am determined to continue to work with all of those involved, including the owners of the Brink, who like everyone else want to come to a sensible and safe solution that will benefit road users and locals in the area.”
